Discover Sila in Greenland
How would you like to visit one of the largest and most secluded islands on our planet?
An island where you can get away from the maddening crowds and noise and immerse yourself in silence, only hearing the sounds of nature; ice cracking, wind blowing, ravens screaming, and humpback whales blowing. An island where the air quality is incomparable and many of its only 56,000 inhabitants still follow the traditional way of life, preserving its raw, untouched beauty. This is where the sun never sets for 2 whole months of the year and where the ice caps are almost a million years old.
When you travel with us to Greenland, we hope to help you discover ‘sila’ which in Greenlandic means ‘weather’ and ‘state of mind’. And these become interwoven here.
Visit those who have learned to live 300 kilometers North of the Polar Circle. What would that be like?
Explore ever-changing backlands, find peace on a mountaintop, or in icy waters amidst fjords and old gigantic icebergs, see turf hut ruins and touch the permafrost with your own hands and maybe you’ll also see a whale, a seal, or a few!
Understand Inuit culture through Kaffemik (a celebration inviting you into the community), tuniit (Inuit tattoos), the drum and mask dance, and of course its food culture in the wild where each forage, each fish, and each hunt comes with a story.
And as much as they are immersed in their traditions, in Greenland there is a contemporary side too. Art, street art, sculptures, and photography address many current issues.
And then there is that Michelin- star restaurant, the world’s most remote one. An experience in itself focussed not only on gourmet but nature and life in a tiny settlement at the edge of the world!
